Redfall | Full Game Walkthrough | No Commentary
70The summer is almost upon us and before that we will still be archiving various games that see the light of day. Redfall on the other hand will not see the light of day, because the sun has been blocked out by bloodsucking vampires!
Redfall promises us an engaging storydriven adventure with lots of action, loot and exploration of a small, cozy island town. Over the past few days Redfall has been getting a lot of critique and though I share some of these views, I would like to start out with something positive.
In my opinion the atmosphere in the game is great with the small coastal town as a setting. Despite the world feeling empty, there is a lot of detail on the streets and among the houses. It reminded me of the vibe I got from playing The Secret World. It even got to a point where I thought it could secretly be in the same universe.
Unfortunately there are not that many interesting things to do in this atmospheric town. There are no actual cutscenes and all the storytelling is done through stills which made it less immersive. I also stumbled on quite a few bugs and glitches during the playthrough and have to admit that the AI of the enemies were below standard.
It's a shame, because the setting is something I'd like to see more of. Maybe in the future they can do a more streamlined and directed narrative DLC, because I definitely would love to see more of the sunny town of Redfall!
