Norman Bates was ripe for another sequel following the release of Psycho in 1960, but it wasn't until 1983 that Richard Franklin delivered Psycho II, a sequel 23 years in the making. Psycho III was released three years after the surprise success of Psycho II, with Anthony Perkins making his directorial debut in hopes of achieving another hit.
