8Fuck that jump. Affectionately referred to as 'postage', because the size of the area you need to land on is the size of, well, a postage stamp. Also, you know, you've gotta send it!!
Beyond practicing the main jump, a tweak in the boost pattern yielded the biggest gain here. Thanks to Zorinar for showing me a staggered boost at the start (ensuring it lasts all the way to the first set of double boost pads), which alone saved me about two tenths.
The first split seems really even, and I could argue the same for the second. That'll change in time but they're really balanced by Redout 2's standards.
A lot of builds seem to work here, and my theory right now is that you don't need steering all that much. The contours of the track are significant enough that all you need to do is pitch up and strafe, for the most part. If you can get the track to do your dirty work for you, you'll save a lot of time. The low stability also plays a part, because I think scrubbing some speed is important for the middle part of the lap.
