(Remastered) Atomic Runner Chelnov / OST Megamix Compilation / Mega Drive, X68000, Arcade Versions
Lately I have been watching Goati_ (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3GkN3-OaQwGbM-QVOmBxGw) stream this game on his Twitch channel (https://www.twitch.tv/goati_) and the exciting map music is stuck in my head as I write this. This game maybe some folks know because it was featured on Game Center CX, or some might know as Atomic Runner the Western name for it, and collectors would know because it is one of the most sought after Mega Drive games in Japan...but anyone should know that it has an energetic soundtrack full of catchy tunes. It is a pretty hard game and sort of plays like a very challenging infinite runner since you are moving forward and have to use the enemies and background elements to your advantage.
The official real hardware soundtrack can be purchased here or some other Japan oriented CD shops, I can already predict that this will be a big collector's item in the future because it comes with an awesome booklet and the case is well made with an easter egg underneath the CD:

(This video is NOT based on the soundtrack CD audio and usually the Japan releases of these are top class in accuracy, so worth checking out...)
Translated the soundtrack description: "This action/shooting game was first released as an arcade game in 1988 by Data East, one of Japan's most powerful game makers.
More than 30 years have passed since then, and "Chelnov" has been talked about as a famous, problematic, weird, and unique game. The arcade version from 1988 and the Mega Drive version from 1992 are included on one CD! A must-listen for world music and progressive music fans alike, and the perfect CD to help you get some exercise in these days when stay-home/stay-at-home is the order of the day! Go, Chelnov! Fight, Chelnov! Fight, Chelnov! Run, Chelnov! Run, Chelnov!!"
Some controversy happened with the obvious connection between this game and the Chernobyl incident..."Data East responded in a television program that the name "Chelnov" was merely a relative of Karnov, the title character of one of the company's games, and was not at all influenced by the events at Chernobyl", yeah...right...
