Millions of people observed a two-minute silence at 11:00 GMT yesterday to mark Armistice Day. Ceremonies took place to remember those who have fallen since the First World War, including the 342 service personnel killed in Afghanistan. In Afghanistan British troops remembered the colleagues they had lost. Operations continued while those who could took time out to pay tribute.
