With only two muted DLC drops, it felt like Remnant: From the Ashes dropped entirely out of the news cycle within a year of launch - aside from an equally low-key “next-gen upgrade” announcement. I bounced off it while it was on Xbox Game Pass - I have an on-off relationship with 'Souls-like games - but eventually picked up the "Complete Edition" cheaply and made the time to take it slow and get a proper feel for the mechanics.

After sinking 25 hours into one solo campaign character, and one multiplayer character for the "adventure mode", I was unexpectedly entertained on a mechanical level, despite the limited scope, uneven single-player balance, and mixed production values. But would I still recommend it to others?
