The third and final part of me replaying the DKC trilogy only on GBA, more specifically during this stream I played DKC3 only on GBA. Many would consider this one to be the most notable of the three ports for two simple reasons - they created an original soundtrack which you can always hear in every level (unless it’s doing dead silence as a goof) and the brand new world of Pacifica which is a whole original world. These two things are as big as they sound, though… they’re also both hit and miss.

It’s worth noting the port also has less of some things the other two did. There’s no brand new cutscenes that aged poorly. There’s no time trial mode that doesn’t quite get what a time trial should be. There’s no additional collectables shoved into every level for no reason. There are minigames and they’re okay. Still, even without these things it’s still probably the port most worth playing. Though… play the SNES version first and mainly.

As I played I talked about a great many things from the limitations of the GBA to its various accessories. From how I just finished Better Call Saul to hot new game Avowed. From setting up my repaired Laptop from scratch to realizing that Chrome doesn’t want me to block ads on it anymore. Ancient internet history. There was a whole lot about various Universal parks which I love and/or am anticipating including one a half hour away perfect for my infant nephew. Naps, family, twitch clips busywork and Metroid Fusion. Like with any five hour stream of mine a lot came up.

This playthrough is part of a whole series of Rareware playthroughs which are selected randomly. Now that I've finished DKC3 I'll choose another Rare game to play through in 2 weeks from now.
