Replaying Glover - Part 1: Please Stop Dropping The Ball
It's the N64 "Classic" Glover! It's a game I have always held is not quite as bad as people say since I played a ton as a kid given that it was a game that I owned and that's just how it goes, however I will say there was a lot I forgot apparently since days long past. I forgot how janky the game can be, how unfair it can be, and how frustrating that could be. Did I just play with infinite lives or something? I don't know! I definitely enabled a few cheats by the end just for the sake of my sanity.
If you don't know, Glover is a game about recovering gems transformed into bouncy balls and getting each ball safety through each level can be an ordeal. You can't jump holding a ball, only dribble, so you gotta make sure the ball doesn't get dribbled into a pit or lava or into an inconveniently far down area. It's dang screwy and they give you three lives to manage each level with by default.
This stream was mostly on topic, but I did talk about a few other things here and there like having voted before the stream, Banjo-Tooie on N64 Online, other notable N64 games I'd like to revisit, Metaphor Refantazio and whether Glover is really bad enough for Giant Bomb's Blight Club feature. Not to spoil my conclusions, but think it'd be frustrating enough especially given a player new to the game and a funny watch to boot.
I got through the first four worlds during this stream, I will do the remaining two next week.
