Since Repton 2's speedrun is much more demanding than Repton 1's, I've decided to make a series of videos showing my work on routing individual levels, before I get into full run attempts.

As of now (11 Nov 2013) there are, to my knowledge, no previous speedrun records on BBC Micro Repton 2, but this run can be compared with the following records:

* 57:07 Tool-assisted speedrun by George Foot
* 45:13 Current record for "Message Classic" (i.e. the original 16 levels) on PC Repton 2, by Steven Wall
* 48:55 Current record for "Message Modern" (includes 3 additional levels) by me

When I ran PC Repton 2, I studied Screen A (the hub level) to try to find the best order for taking the transporters, taking into account where each level returns you, so as to minimise the total travelling distance. I have now gone over this again and think I have an even better Screen A route – although the old route had the advantage of starting with Screens H and G, two of the hardest levels, getting them done first so that resets there would lose as little time as possible. The new route still does H and G early, but not first.

Screen B (bottom) is just a matter of finding the most efficient route through the rock puzzles, and there is little to say. For Screen L (top), this route would be ideal on the PC version, but on the BBC, monsters can move up when you are in horizontal line with them, so the monster kill shown is somewhat risky. Depending on how things go when I start doing full runs, I may keep taking the risky route and accepting the resets, or I may go back to my old route on this level!
