Repton Infinity Rep4B Level 3
The seventh level of Repton 4 demonstrates several interesting features of the game. Firstly, it is the first level without a map. Although Repton Infinity's editor allows the map availability to be set separately for each level, all four built-in games use the same pattern, with the map available for the first six levels. Next, one has to take care when handling the spirits, since they will take transporters if given the opportunity. Before releasing the first spirit, I push a surplus magiblock into a transporter to use it up, and lead the spirit around the top of the second transporter so it does not go in. This transporter leads into the enclosure just above, which already contains a spirit, and if the second spirit transports in with it, although sometimes this can be harmless, often the two will end up dazing each other.
Next, the way magic walls work is that when a rock hits one, it turns into a banknote and creates a new rock to its south. Any object in that square will simply be erased; if it is a jewel, the opportunity to score points from it will be gone. This is why I collect all the jewels between the magic walls before allowing the rock to fall into the transporter that goes above them. It is also why I know, without having to see it on-screen, that the rock I push through magic walls at the beginning will fall through them, erasing an earth square, and trap the fungus below.
The level also shows that spirits pass over a photocopier without activating it if its "output" square is blocked, but I already mentioned that in my video of the fifth level. Finally, we have two interesting features of eggs: that they do not kill Repton if they fall on him (unlike in Repton 3) and that they do not roll off curved objects (presumably because the Reptol code for Repton 4's new objects took up so much room that this had to be left out). Actually, eagle-eyed viewers may have noticed an egg failing to roll off a curved object on the fifth level, but here the effect is very blatant, with two eggs that cannot be broken (and so their points cannot be scored). Finally, as usual, to get the maximum score one must photocopy ghouls whenever possible.
The music for this video is "La donna è mobile" and "Funiculì, funiculà", two unrelated songs that I find go well together.
