The seventh level of Repton 5, titled "Crossing the Courtyard", may well be testpilotmonkey's masterpiece, a level of incredible beauty and difficulty. First comes an ingenious puzzle in which the nugget must not be pushed into the receiver too soon, as it is needed to get rocks out of the way so the propeller block can be brought across and transported to cover the acid pit so Repton can move a rock over it to disturb the spirit.

Then comes a chamber filled with spikes, in which testpilotmonkey proves that spike puzzles aren't necessarily easier than Robbo's lawnmower puzzles just because vacuum cleaners can be pushed in all four directions. And it's made no easier by the fact that cleaning the room requires releasing three spirits, and the top-right corner has to be accessed twice (it's the only way to turn the vacuum cleaner around after freeing the diamonds on the right) so you mustn't release this rock, which opens the way to a cage, too early. It's easy for the spirits to daze each other in this area, but fortunately they can usually be rescued with the vacuum cleaners, unless you've already pushed both to the side. And incidentally, the path the spirits are following back around the first area involves them continually using the transporter in the bottom-right, making this a fun level to play with sound on :)

Next, the level's crowning puzzle, one that had me stumped for a good two weeks. It looks impossible to get enough rocks out of the way (which you have to do to create space for a nugget to be pushed later on) when it seems that, no matter how you manipulate the horizontal pushable blocks, they will always get in the way of the rocks filling all three columns. The well-hidden solution involves making use of the time the rocks take to fall to get the nugget into place, and a series of Infinity shuffles. But what really makes this puzzle stand out is the sheer number of blind alleys and near misses achieved with so few pieces. I think this has to be one of my favourite puzzles in the entire Repton series.

Even then, we're not done with this level, which has one more spirit, and Repton just has time to deal with a monster before following the spirit into the top area, which has to be done as the gate will block the spirit off if Repton heads up without it. Finally, we get to see why clearing the rocks was necessary, so that the nugget from the bottom-right can be brought all the way to the opposite corner of the level to let us reach the last few diamonds.

The music for this video is Chopin's Nocturne in F minor.
