Unlike the small-scale zombie encounters of previous installments in the series or the frantic shoot-outs characteristic of its direct follow-up, Resident Evil 4 achieves the right balance in combat. The player gets just enough room to maneuver but is also up against enough enemies at the same time that it never becomes a realistic option to simply run around carelessly and pick 'em off without being overwhelmed or outflanked. Also, a fair amount of loadout customization is made possible via the in-game merchant, from whom I bought a rifle and a scope (as a replacement for a shotgun I sold) shortly before recording this video.
