Darksiders II (2012) (PC) (Vigil Games)
Darksiders 2 has now been released here in Euroland, and considering that I literally had to force myself through the original game I find the sequel to be curiously intriguing so far. DS2's combat is noticeably faster with a more fluid feel than the equally flashy-looking but somewhat lumbering violence of DS1, and the sequel also introduces a whole new and potentially addictive layer of action RPG elements including level-ups, colored loot drops, DPS stats and proper skill trees. The story and characters are still almost painfully uninteresting, but at least the world(s) seems noticeably less post-apocalyptic this time around (i.e. the environments aren't only grey or brown) and the game's overall atmosphere is greatly helped by what appears to be a really epic soundtrack courtesy of Jesper Kyd.
