The last issue I have with controls is that I was unable to map the grenades to my body. There is one slot on your chest and I was unable to change the grenade type so I could only use the one attached to my body. I tried looking through the tutorials and even asked AI and couldn’t find a way to swap them.
So, these are the problems with playing in VR, but the benefits in being inside the game outweigh the negatives and I would highly recommend playing this way if you can. It really is an incredible experience.
I would say being up close to objects probably makes them look slightly worse because you can see so much detail, but it’s amazing seeing them in front and all around you.
The game itself is amazing all the way through. There are so many highlight moments that it’s easy to forget. It’s just set-piece after set-piece for a massive amount of time for a game like this. Talking about time, it took me a lot longer to complete than the original. I thought the original was long when I did it in 17 hours the first time. VR takes a lot longer due to, dying more, more gameplay content, and stopping just to admire the environments. But playing in VR can’t be done in long spurts. The max I could stay in the game was 2 hours but that could be down to the PSVR2 crushing my head or the fact that I played sitting down, although I can’t imagine standing up to be better.
I don’t know if they added anymore sections to the game from the original because I don’t remember everything is the bits I don’t remember could be from the original or just new.
To summarise, this is one of the best games ever made, made slightly better and is surely the best VR game ever made.
