Part 4. For years all I heard about this game was how bad it was. I had never seen the game in action outside of playing about 10 minutes of Leon's campaign and not even remembering it. I've also never heard a valid argument as to why it is bad. I'm not going to say this is my favorite RE game, but it might just be the best RE that exists today. For starters it improves on everything that RE 4 and 5 fail to do. The controls are fluid and you can finally move when you shoot. Holy crap, I cannot believe it took them 6 mainline games before they implemented this mechanic. On top of it all they added a way to get out of situations with a very hilarious dodging mechanic. I freaking love it. They also bring back zombies and add a slew of brad new fodder to boot. This game is glorious and freaking huge. While I wasn't a fan of how long 4 and 5 were I somehow loved the fact that there are 4 separate campaigns here. It was so cool to see the different campaigns weaved in and out of one another and that each campaign offered and new experience rather then just retreading old ground. Each campaign is unique and tells its own story and has its own bosses. I absolutely loved it. I probably liked Leon's the best but each is just as wonderful. I like how we finally see the bio-weapons in action in Chris' campaign. Sure, his has a more militaristic approach to it, but that was entirely the point and I very much appreciated the angle if solely from a long awaited lore point. I still hate Piers. Screw that guy. Jake and Sherry were a ton of fun. And how freaking weird is it that they brought her back? Ada is clearly a ton of fun as well and just as much of a mystery as well. hers was also the only campaign where I didn't have a partner and had to play a lot more conservative which I appreciated. Speaking of partners it was really cool to have a killing machine at you side. They no longer need you to acquire ammo for them and just blast away like lunatics. They have a great arsenal but don't switch weapons all that much. It's so cool to have an actual helpful AI partner. I totally abused the revive system and felt no shame. I like the upgrade system as well and found some skills that suited me and my play style and pretty much just used those few. You also don't have a ton of money to throw around so experimenting with different skill loadouts isn't possible. but points carry over so you can use the stuff you acquired in the previous campaign in your current one. The story tries to be a bit more serious, but it does have a ton of over the top craziness and is a touch more convoluted than it needs to be. After completing all four campaigns I felt that I had just about put it all together but I still felt that there was a loose end or two. I did dip my toe into the mercenaries but didn't play for too long. I honestly think it would have been more fun with a co-op partner. I can honestly say that after playing this game I think all of those people saying it's bad have absolutely no idea what they are talking about. It is an amazingly well made action horror game and easily the best of the second trilogy. I think people just like to jump on hate trains. I get that a lot of people miss the survival horror, but these games are a ton of fun. Enjoy my blind playthrough.
