Part 2. I really wanted to like this game more and it just feels like missed opportunities. At the start of the game all of these cool mechanics are introduced and the game completely ignores a couple of levels later. You get a party and they have emotions that you can help control. You can give them weapons check their infections and yours, heal them, but all is meaningless because THEY ALL DIE!!! No matter what you do or how hard you try they will die. The game also introduces an exposure mechanic and barely utilizes it. For the most part it is a non-factor in the game. The game has some creepy and gross creatures and some cool levels. Yup, it is linear and level based. It works. You get a small variety of weapons and you share ammo when you have party members. The shotgun is probably the best weapon when you have the ammo. The little creatures will go down with just bullets, but the bigger creatures you need to burn and that can get dicey. It's super easy to light yourself on fire. For some reason when standing you burn the ground and when kneeling shoot forward so if you are trying to walk an enemy down you'll end up hurting yourself. Its silly. And when you give a flamethrower to a party member they will do okay-ish but more often than not just waste the ammo. It is funny watching the AI light an enemy up just for them to charge into said NPC. The bosses kind of suck. They are big and have insane reach and for some reason they are all crammed in tiny rooms with very little space to move around in. I died quite a bit on a few of them. It's also hard to gauge how much damage you are doing. They operate in largely the same way bigger enemies do in that you have to burn them at low health to kill them. It just takes forever to bring them down. The controls are also a bit silly. You move forward and back with the left stick and turn. You strafe with the right stick and that is it. The game auto-aims for you. It takes some getting used to. The story picks up right after the movie and you are investigating what happened to McGrady's base. So this is essentially a sequel to the movie. The surprise to me was that there were so freaking many research facilities and how goddam big they are. It's weird. The game is fun but also heavily flawed. There's a ton of action but not a ton scares. The game starts with creatures and ends with soldiers. It seems like it forgets what it was trying to be. Enjoy my blind playthrough.
