Resistance Deserves Respect!!
23Insomniac's Resistance series on Playstation is an epic videogame franchise. Let's look back at the serie's history and it's games in the nostalgic retrospective part and then we analyze its present day situation and discuss its possible future. This Sony IP deserves more respect!!
It all started on the Playstation 3 with the launch of Resistance: Fall of Man in 2006 as a PS3 launch title. I remember getting this game and the PS3 for Christmas 2007 alongside Motorstorm and Ratchet and Clank Future Tools of Destruction. I had a lot of fun playing this game on X-MAS day. It was my first time playing a game in High Definition. It was developed by insomniac Games which was founded by Ted Price. They made Disruptor for the Sony Playstation as well as the first 3 Spyro the Dragon games (Spyro 2 Ripto's Rage and Spyro 3 Year of the Dragon) for PS1, and all the Ratchet and Clank videogames for PS1 PS2 PS3 PS4 and most recently on PS5. The game starred Nathan Hale and it's a first person shooter videogame. This FPS is set in Europe and it an alternate history where an alien invasion occurred in the 1950s. The Chimera are the evil invaders. It lets you play the whole game in split screen co-op mode and lets you go online for multiplayer. Just like in the Ratchet and Clank games there are many crazy weapons to choose from.
The sequel, Resistance 2, has an expanded multiplayer and cooperative modes. It shows the Chimera aliens in America instead of the UK. and has a new character called Joseph Capelli. It changed gameplay a lot and had more action set pieces and big bosses. the third game Resistance 3 also takes place in the US and has Joseph Capelli as the protagonist instead of Nathan Hale. He is married to Susan Farley and is a family man and is a very dynamic main character. story coop mode returned! there were two games in handhelds, Resistance Retribution for the PSP or Playstation Portable and Resistance Burning Skies for Playstation Vita or PS Vita.
The series is in limbo now and the only way to play them on Playstation 5 is through PS Plus, and they will be removed from the PS Plus catalog soon. There is no way to natively play these games on your PS5 or on PC through Steam. They deserve to be remastered and/or remade. We need them on current gen consoles and PC. Its shame a shame Sony doesn't do remastered HD Collections like they did on PS3 when they did things like God of War Saga Collection, Ratchet and Clank HD Collection, Sly Cooper, Jak and Daxter etc. We need all those IP's to return with new collections along with Killzone, Infamous, Twisted Metal, Uncharted and many more Sony Playstation Franchises. Sony did recently remake Demon Souls and Shadow of the Colossus and The Last of Us Part 1 but they need to more and better. We need a Resident Evil 4 remake style game for Resistance Fall of Man. Let's hope Playstation revives Insomniac Games Resistance series soon with remasters remakes and sequels or reboots. We need to fight the Chimera once again.
