Nintendo Switch 2 - You Will Own Nothing!!
74Nintendo has the power to brick your Nintendo Switch from a far if you alter your device and break the user agreement. Essentially we don't own our Switch and will not own the Switch 2. Let's discuss!
I think we can all agree that videogame companies like Nintendo have every right to protect their IPs and to make sure people don't pirate their games. But it is draconian to take it to the level of destroying someone's video game console from an afar just because they did something that goes against the user agreement. It's one thing to cancel someone's account and affect their digital presence on nintendo network, it's another to destroy something they physically own just because they altered it and broke the agreement and warranty. This is taking things too far. At that point we are basically renting our Nintendo Switch and our Nintendo Switch 2 systems. They are going to charge 450 dollars for a system that we have no control over despite it being a physical device we bought and "own". I guess we don't really own it then, we are leasing our Switch consoles.
Nintendo has been anti consumer before. Most recently with the bump to 80 dollar in the price of videogames like Mario Kart World, the ten dollar tech demo "Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour" instead of making it free, and now this draconian user agreement policy and the bricking of peoples devices. And for years they have gone after people who make fan games like the fan made Metroid 2 videogame several years ago. the industry in general is becoming very anti consumer. With Nintendo its one controversy after another. we need to speak our minds
On one hand I love Nintendo. They created many beloved intellectual properties like Super Mario, the Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Donkey Kong, Kirby, F-Zero, Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Animal crossing, Fire Emblem, Pokemon and much more. but this is anti consumer and we need to speak up!
