3Jumpy è stato un internet service provider (ISP) di accesso gratuito ad Internet, operante con POP PSTN a 56 Kbit/s in tutta Italia, di proprietà dalla Jumpy S.p.A.
Jumpy era anche uno dei principali portali italiani e balzò alla ribalta in occasione della prima edizione del Grande Fratello.
Fondato nel 1999, Jumpy S.p.A. fu ceduta nel 2001 da Fininvest a Mediaset a seguito dello scoppio della bolla internet, della mancata quotazione in borsa e per arginare le costanti perdite.
Non avendo investito successivamente nel lancio di servizi ADSL per rimpiazzare la tecnologia 56k, il progetto fu definitivamente abbandonato nel 2006.
Questo tutorial, presente su parecchi cd demo o promozionali, illustra un modo di accedere a internet che oggi fa sorridere, sono passati 20 anni più o meno, ma sembra un modo di concepire il pc e i suoi servizi molto più vecchio...

Founded in 1999, Jumpy S.p.A. was sold in 2001 by Fininvest to Mediaset due the end of the first internet gold era; it also missed the listing on the stock exchange and was quite lossing money by that time.
Not having subsequently invested in the launch of ADSL services to replace the 56k technology, the project was definitively abandoned in 2006.
This tutorial, inserted on several demo or promotional CDs, describes a way of accessing internet that seems naif today; more or less 20 years have passed, but it seems like a much older way of conceiving the PC and its services...
