Revisit old classics in an all-new perspective! And witness the future of the series!

Sonic Mania released in 2017 with great praise from fans new and old. It was the most successful Sonic title in some time. Truly a return to the classic formula. So it would only be expected that Sega would follow up that success with a sequel in the Mania series, right? Well, it's been nearly four years now since the original mania release and there's no word on a follow up. So i decided i'd make a trailer myself. This is mostly a way to show what i'd like to see in a possible Sonic Mania 2. I figured this would be more fun than a Top Ten or whatever giving my hopes and expectations. Anyway, here's the breakdown:

-The return of the original Mania Team. Christian Whitehead, Tee Lopes, Tyson Hesse, among others. Their visions are what made Sonic Mania what it is.

-Mighty and Ray. Two parts of the SegaSonic trio. Reintroduced in Sonic Mania Plus after being left behind for many, many years. They fit so well into the Mania formula, it feels essential for them to be a part of the series going forward.

-Remixed Zones. A prominent part of Sonic Mania. Zones you know and love, remixed and remade in a new perspective. There's so many classic zones i'd like to see remixed. My top choices are Bridge Zone, Marble Zone, Mushroom Hill, and Toxic Caves.

-Story. There's not much story in the classic Sonic games, and that's okay. But pixel art cutscenes are gorgeous, such as the one at the end of mania plus within the saloon. So i added on a bit to that cutscene. It would be nice to see some short scenes in this style between levels to progress the story.

-Amy Rose. Amy gets alot of recognition in modern 3D games, but she was actually one of the first characters in the series. Her debut in Sonic CD had her in her Rosie the Rascal style. It would be nice to see her retro return, and maybe she could implement that piko piko hammer of hers like in Sonic Advance 3.

-Team Play. The Sonic series has had light multiplayer features since Sonic 2, where the second controller can move Tails, though with limited functionality. Knuckles Chaotix had more multiplayer elements, though it's finicky with those rings. And then Mania Plus had encore mode where any 2 of the characters will be on screen at any time. The perfect opportunity play with a friend- oh wait. That was made single player only for whatever reason. That's a shame. Being able to play duo with anyone, not just sonic & Tails, would be a blast.

-Many More References. I included the ring from knuckles Chaotix, letting Mighty and Ray reach a high cliff. Maybe we don't need ring mechanics, but as an altered specialty item it could be fun.

Zone shifts. Switching zones mid-level? Why not? Sonic CD tried this with time travel, and Knuckles Chaotix has day times. Some levels feel like they could be the same place from a different point in time. Such as Marble Zone being a destroyed, lava infested version of Marble Garden. Or Toxic Caves being a polluted version of Mystic Cave. It could be fun to somehow link some of these old levels. Or even map them out in some way to show a fuller view of Sonic's world.

-Maybe some mini games? It's not necessary. But Amy's hammer smacking skills could lead to some fun games. As well as each character's unique abilities being implemented in more ways than basic gameplay.

-Chaotix. Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles are the obvious inclusions. Ray and Mighty were a surprise, but much welcomed. Fang, Bark, and Bean were showed for a short time in Mania. There's not many classic characters left besides Team Chaotix. Featured in the 1995 Knuckles Chaotix, This funky group of freelance rebels layed low until 2003's Sonic Heroes, and they've been a part of the series since. Well, with the exception of Mighty the Armadillo. The next Mania could serve as a sequel to Knuckles Chaotix, explaining whatever happened to Mighty before Heroes, and why he's not so much as mentioned by his former crew.

-Lock-On Technology. Obviously this wouldn't be the physical phenomena it was with the 3&Knuckles Lock-On carts, but it could be a fun reference. That is, if there even is any reason to carry anything over from the previous game. Idk, maybe they could connect in some way.

-And finally Doctor Robotnik returns again. Who else would be behind all the chaos? The Chaos Rings could have some role to play.

Well thanks for reading that if you did. I'm getting close on word count. So that's an accomplishment i guess. This video was mostly for fun, along with the longing for a new Mania. There's alot of gold in the older, more obscure Sonic games. So what's next from me? idk. I always have ideas, just don't always have time. I could finish up that other farm video i started in March. Or that next KH video i wrote nearly a year and a half ago. Or resume that FF7 series i haven't touched in a year. I've got the next episode halfway done too. I'm not sure what's next but whatever it is
