I have spent far too much time playing FFXIV this year.
I started playing XIV just before Shadowbringers came out, and I was a very casual player at the start. I was really just in it for the story and to play with friends. I had heard that EX content was pretty difficult, so I was pretty intimidated by it for quite a while.
Well, my FC buddies got me into EX content late last year, and it was all downhill from there. After clearing the EX fights, I started learning the Savage raids, and this tier I found a static and cleared through all the fights.
The best part of this tier of raids was EASILY this song!
I was pretty intimidated by covering this song at first, since it's a very vocal-heavy track and that sometimes doesn't translate well to an instrumental song. I was also pretty scared about those funk guitar riffs scattered throughout the song, since I had never done anything like that before. However, let this be a testament to what can happen if you embrace the challenge of new things - I think this is probably my favourite arrangement that I've put together!
The arrangement became so effortless once I got started. Every part of the track was fun to arrange, and fun to play. The bass lines have such an incredible groove to them, but they're really not all that crazy either.
Also, Soken is an absolute masterful composer. The entire FFXIV soundtrack is incredible, and I really look forward to trying more arrangements in the future!
