π°βπ REVERSE Save or Suck Spells, What Do You Do?!| D&D Discussions
How do you feel about spells and abilities that have no effect on a passed saving throw? This comes up for spell casters in DnD more than any other character class. Also with some monster abilities as well. Does this bother you when you are Dming? Personally I feel it is just part of the game balance. Spells tend to have much greater affect on the game as a whole. So it makes sense that sometimes you expend a resorce during the gaming session and it just doesn't work out. 5th Edition Dungeons and Dragons has really limited down the number of save or suck effects in either case. But the bard, cleric, druid, sorcerer, warlock, and wizard are going to have to deal with it to some degree. It is the trade off for the powerful spells they get to weild in the game.
