40 years ago, legendary stop-motion FX artist David Allen began work on a passion project about lost civilizations, alien invaders and giant monsters; created largely in his home studio using the handmade model and stopframe puppetry techniques he'd spent a lifetime perfecting. When he tragically died from cancer in 1999 at 54, many fans believed the long-rumored film - by then titled "THE PRIMEVALS" and partway into early production via Allen's longtime collaborators at Full Moon Features - would go permanently unrealized.
Now, after 25 years of working from the Allen's original notes, storyboards, existing footage and original models; his colleagues and friends have completed a cut of the film now streaming in the U.S. with home video and digital releases pending for the Fall.
This review for the once-thought-lost feature, which follows a scientific expedition to the Himalayas after evidence proving the existence of The Yeti is uncovered which subsequently unearths a Lost World and a race of aggressive reptilian beings, covers the currently-streaming version of the film (from Full Moon Features VOD). I've elected to forego a review score because the fact of the feature merely EXISTING, in this case, feels more noteworthy than any mere appraisal. As I've said else on the matter: David Allen believed in this so much, it out-lived him. He won. And that's a hell of a thing.

The audio for this piece has been compiled from a longer episode documenting the history of the production; which can be viewed HERE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2t9j8Tins0
