Rewind - Achievement: 9 To The Nth (Level 6-5 (The Code))

Achievement: 9 To The Nth
Level 6-5 (The Code)
Rewind is a game of time manipulation and self-cooperation. I'd actually had my eye on this game for a while, so when it got discounted during the recent Steam Summer Sale... I just had to pick it up. =)
In Rewind, you have a "rewind" device that can be used to undo small mistakes (like a missed jump), but more significantly, it can also be used to create what are basically time-shifted clones of yourself. So by performing actions and rewinding to the beginning of a puzzle, you can cooperate with your past self (or selves) to successfully get to the exit! ...or not-so-successfully, depending upon whether you did the right things at the right times when you were your past self. =)
Oh, speaking of "right thing at the right time", I really liked that Rewind actually provides you with some useful tools to help you coordinate with your other selves. =) The timer in the lower left corner shows how much time has passed since the beginning of the rewind event... so, since every clone starts at the same time, this is actually extremely useful for coordinating with both past and future selves (for example, if as the first clone, you step on a button at exactly 15s, then step off off it at exactly 20s... when you play a future clone, you can coordinate your actions quite easily, just by keeping an eye on the timer)! You can also watch the real-time progress of past clones via the monitors on the rewind device... though personally, I found the timer in the corner to be a lot more useful. =)
So anyway, I had a lot of fun playing through Rewind, so I thought I'd record and upload some videos! Hope you enjoy!
Achievement: 9 To The Nth
Description: Complete a pressure pad passcode puzzle without the code.
This achievement is only possible on two levels: Level 6-5 (Gula, The Code) and Level 7-5 (Luxuria, Undone). 6-5 is by far the easier level to use, though, since it only has two buttons instead of three, so the number of possible combinations is only 9 to the 2nd (9*9=81) instead of 9 to the 3rd (9*9*9=729). ^^
81 combinations might seem like a lot, but by dividing them up into groups of 9, you really only have to conduct nine trials of nine. =)
So:
1) Clone A stands on button 1. Clone B moves across all 9 buttons.
2) Clone A stands on button 2. Clone B moves across all 9 buttons.
...
9) Clone A stands on button 9. Clone B moves across all 9 buttons.
So to set things up, send Clone B out to the buttons first (and make sure to activate the platform so Clone A can get across as well!), to move across all 9 buttons. If you move fast enough, you can do all 9 sets of 9... but technically, only 1 set of 9 is necessary, because Clone A can use undo-rewinds to get Clone B to repeat. In this video, I used 3 sets of 9, which conveniently divides Clone A's trials into 3 sets of 3.
And that's pretty much it! For each set of 9 buttons Clone B steps on, have Clone A step on a different button, and when the door opens, you'll have the combination... without looking in the combination room. =)
Now just send Clone C across, wait until Clones A and B step on the proper buttons (if you want to reduce the waiting time, you can have Clone A use an undo-rewind to get to the proper button sooner, like I did in this video), and go through the door when it opens. And that's it! =)
