Rewind is a game of time manipulation and self-cooperation. I'd actually had my eye on this game for a while, so when it got discounted during the recent Steam Summer Sale... I just had to pick it up. =)
Anyway, I had a lot of fun playing through Rewind, so I thought I'd record and upload some videos! Hope you enjoy!
Level 7-5: Luxuria, Undone
Clone Trial: Using 5 of 8 clones!
Yep, it's actually possible to complete the 7-5 Clone Trial "under par"! =) Though it does require a lot more time than just playing the level normally. ^^;
Basically, by using the "9 To The Nth" Achievement strategies from Level 6-5, and adjusting them to a 3-part code, you can open the door with 3 Clones. Then send the 3rd Clone into the room to step on the button. Then redo one of the other two as the 4th Clone, grab the bomb, and blow up the final barrier (once the 3rd Clone opens the door). Then redo the final clone as the 5th Clone to go through the final door. =)
The tricky part, of course, is opening the door with only three clones. With a three-part unlock code, there are a total of 9 to the 3rd (9*9*9=729) possible combinations... which is a lot! But again, by dividing into groups of 9, the first clone only has to conduct 81 trials of 9 (which means the second clone only has to conduct 9 trials of 9)!
Of course, 81 sets of 9 is still a lot, so to make things a bit easier, if the first clone does only 27 sets of 9 instead, the second clone only has to do 3 sets of 9... which means the third clone only has to do 3 trials of 3 to find the proper combination. Which sounds simple... but, of course, there's a whole lot of setup work that goes into those three trials for that third clone. ^^;;
0:15 Left Clone, first things first: Before starting on the sets of 9, go to the button that opens the door to the room with the bomb. Keep the door open for long enough for another clone to enter the room, grab the bomb, and get out again. If you want to be extra sure, stand on the button for a couple extra seconds. After all, if a clone is unable to get the bomb later, you're going to have to start the Clone Trial completely over (or use an extra Clone)! ^^;
0:30 Left Clone, buttons: At minimum, you need to do 9 sets of 9 (so that Middle Clone can get through all 9 buttons). Note that there is a 3-minute limit on the rewind device, so I don't think there's enough time to do 81 sets. Anyway, in this video, I did 27 sets of 9. Which allows Middle Clone to get through 3 sets of 9. Which allows Right Clone to try 3 of 9 buttons. In other words, if Left Clone does 27 sets of 9, Right Clone only has to go through 3 trials of 3 to get through all 729 possible combinations. =)
2:45 Middle Clone: If Left Clone did 27 sets of 9, Middle Clone should do 3 sets of 9.
5:02 Right Clone: Stand on the 1st button and wait for Middle Clone to get through 1 set of 9. Move Right Clone to the 2nd button and wait, etc. Move Right Clone to the 3rd button and wait, etc.
6:57 If the combination still hasn't come up, do an undo-rewind and go to the 4th button instead of the 1st. Go through the 4th, 5th, and 6th buttons. If the combination still hasn't come up, undo-rewind to try the 7th, 8th, and 9th buttons.
If you set everything up and ran it properly, you should be able to get the combination to unlock the door within 3 trials of 3... and more importantly, using only 3 Clones! Make note of the combination (so that when you redo Middle and Left Clones, you can go directly to the proper button).
8:53 Now do an undo-rewind and send Right Clone directly to the proper button (this reduces waiting time for the other clones later).
10:04 Then wait for the door to open, and send Right Clone into the room to step on the button that reveals the final barrier.
10:21 Now redo Middle Clone (as 4th Clone), grab the bomb, step on the proper button, wait for the doors to open, and blow up the final barrier.
11:22 Now redo Left Clone (as 5th Clone), let Middle Clone into (and out of) the bomb room, then step on the proper button, wait for the final barrier to be destroyed... and head for the exit! =)
