Rex plays XCOM: Enemy Within #7 - Just when I thought things were looking up…
5Okay, so last week wasn’t as bad as I feared, but it wasn’t as good as I might have hoped for either. We got sent on two council missions, both super hard ones. The first had us divert this huge alien battleship and the second had us attack it. We got thrown at two new scary alien types too: Mutons and Cyberdisks. We nearly lost Boom Boom (a favorite heavy class soldier) to the Cyberdisk. He’s still in the infirmary, but he’ll recover. It was close.
The good news is we now have satellites covering all of South America, which means that we can do all our alien autopsies and interrogations for free. That’s always been a big part of my game plan. What is not part of my game plan is global panic, which is a serious concern. The choices for our next abduction mission aren’t helping things out at all either.
Honestly, it’s not much of a choice. We’ve got to go to France, otherwise we’ll lose both France and Germany. Unfortunately, that means Canada is going to be freaking out big time. I’ve got a plan that should temporarily save Canada, but we’ve got to get to that alien base assault mission soon or else the game is pretty much over. We’ve been putting it off until we had plasma weapons sorted and that’s just now coming together. It’ll be tricky. If we get that done, then global panic will be eased considerably.
Oh yeah. I nearly forgot. We’ve got a brand new class of mission to do soon: the Covert Op. These are new to the Enemy Within expansion and I’ve basically forgotten everything I once knew about them. We’ll do our first one right after we get back from the abduction mission.
Today we’ve got a surprise team hanging out with me. Ash the Bash will be here as will be my old friend Zuerius. Zuerius and I date back to my vanilla KTANE days.
