It's so stupid easy in hindsight too. I'm using the player position vector.
If the pointer to the vector is null. Load starts.
Position is frozen during loads, will be the same for a given map. Although it does oscillate slightly by a fraction of a unit.
If X,Y,Z all change at the same time. Load stops.
For loads with a spiral staircase, it has to be from non-0 to another non-0 value.
