"Dear friends, lovers of literature, and champions of African voices, today we gather with heavy hearts to mourn the passing of a literary giant—Ngũgĩ wa Thiong’o. A revolutionary writer, a fearless thinker, and a tireless advocate for African languages and culture, Ngũgĩ’s words were not just stories; they were weapons of liberation.
His works, from Decolonising the Mind to Petals of Blood, challenged oppression, celebrated indigenous heritage, and inspired generations to reclaim their narratives. Even in exile, he never stopped fighting for justice and the power of mother tongues.
Though he has left us, his legacy is immortal. Let us honor him by continuing his mission—to read, to write, and to resist in the languages of our souls. Rest in power, Ngũgĩ. Your light will never dim."
