Let's take a quick look at the Rising World "Hostile Animals" update, Alpha 0.5.6. This update added Bears, Moose and Rabbits!

In this Rising World update, the addition of these new animals (and their various forms of aggression) are really the primary updates for most of us. There were some server/mySQL updates as well, but I have the full list below.

When it comes to this update, "Hostile Animals" is speaking to the new functionality of animals being aggro to players. Specifically, the Bear is the only truly hostile animal as it will aggro (attack) players who get close, even without being attacked itself.

The Moose is only defensively hostile, meaning that only when you attack it will it then attack you. This same level of hostility has been added to the Goat as well, and animal that has been in the game for some time.

The Rabbit is not aggressive in any way.

Here is the full list of Rising World Alpha 0.5.6 updates:

New Additions:

New animals: Bear, moose and rabbit
Bear attacks player on sight, moose and goat defend themselves against the player (if he attacks them)
MySQL and MariaDB support for dedicated server (for World database). It's recommended to use MySQL now instead of SqLite
Implemented automatic reconnect when losing connection to a server (multiplayer). This should solve some of the disconnect problems
Lua functions to get the game language "player:getGameLanguage()" and system language "player:getSystemLanguage()" of a player
Added filter for serverbrowser
Ability to sort servers in browser by playercount or alphabetically

Changes:

Renamed Lua functions for player and npcs (e.g. 'getPlayerPosition' to 'getPosition' etc.)
Increased max value for mouse sensitivity (in settings)

Bugfixes:

Fixed wrong hitbox when aiming at dead animals
Fixed network problems in multiplayer
Fixed some typos
Fixed wrong description of hoe and hoehead
Fixed a bug which caused the game to crash
