Risk of Rain 2: The Long Road (a noobs guide)(info in description)
(playing on the patch that adds Loader survivor and siren's call zone (on ps4))
after many attempts, it finally happened, some failed attempts at the start of the video, what mostly goes wrong for me is lack of dmg, you end up taking forever to kill anything, so you do need lunar coins to get at least 1 shaped glass, 3 leaves you with stupidly low hp, I feel that 2 is the sweet spot for shaped glass and still being able to take a few tickles of dmg, I'm playing super safe, I was unlucky this run only found 2 rose bucklars, ideally you'd have many more, to increase armor while sprinting, the gesture of the drowned as many as possible, and active items that allow you to sprint without stopping like the disposable missile launcher, other items which attack while near enemies might be useful too, i have tesla coil, frost relic and little disciple also would be great to have also, here's a short list of key items I had:
-energy drinks/red whips (speed increase)
-personal shield generator (shield (1 shot - protection))
-topaz brooch (barrier generator)
-tougher times (teddy, chance to negate dmg)
-wax quail & hopoo feathers( manouvrablility to dodge enemy attacks)
-infusions(increase hp by 100 per stack)
-guillotines (finishing off elites instantly below 20%)
-on hit/kill effects (atg missile/kjaro&runald bands/ukulele/will o the whisp/daggers/sticky boms)
-harvester scythe/leech seed/aegis (healing synergy that stacks with topaz brooch granting barrier)
lunar coin items:
check bazar whenever possible
-gesture of the drowned (main dps item with disposable rocket launcher, as many as you can stack)
-broken glass (exactly 2 is the best option)
-strides of heresy (stack these a bit, it grants imunity+healing, great panic button, would
recommend getting it regardless of survivor you play, you should have great movement at this point anyway, accept if you're playing Loader... that's just silly, Loader's main dmg is from the movement skill so in that case don't pick this...)
pickup strategy: up to about round 10 I'm picking up as many items as possible, I definitely try to clear out rounds 1 and 4, also 2 if it's abandoned aquaduct, if I get Siren's Call, in the first 10 rounds, i'll challenge the secret boss for an extra red quality item (one of my tesla coils came from there) and clean out most of that zone, after around round 12 I'll rush the teleporter event, then with the cash earned after all is dead, i'll scoot around the area picking up all the loot I can find while it's safe, jump into the portal to the next area and repeat. With 2 stacks of shaped glass you don't have to worry too much about being fast to clear rounds, take your time and make sure to pickup all you need.
I chose Mul-T as my survivor because he has a strong main attack in the nail gun/rebar puncher and gains the most HP of all survivors per levelup also has a decent amount of armor, the movement speed early game is a downside tho, but a few energy drinks solves it, the biggest difficulty is reaching some newt shrines to get to the bazaar, like the one on the ledge in abandoned aquaduct... you can reach it with some effort wall climbing... for attacks, I often use the movement skill to do massive dmg to bosses, you can get away with it early on, but you'll find very soon you have to stop using it since it makes you stop moving for a split second, also dashing towards enemies is a good way to get shotgunned... the green flying guys; flying bells; imp overlords; beetle queens... don't go head to head ever... they'll mess you up lol
I took a lot of time to farm up around 80+ lunar coins to prepare, when you're doing this 20 run challenge, it goes without saying, play on easiest difficulty, also pick every lunar bud you see in levels too, just in case it's one of the items I mentioned... I sometimes get my first shaped glass in a lunar bud on stage 1 which speeds things up significantly
as for one last thing... the lunar item transcendance... removes all HP but 1 and gives you recharging shields... and adds a lot of extra HP... I'm not sure if it's good for this challenge or not... I don't know if you have any forms of 1-shot protection with it... however, if you could stack a ton of them you'd gain a LOT of hp to offset the shaped glass... and you can't take fall dmg with them... tho you sacrifice pretty much all in-combat regeneration and negate all your hp-regen items you picked up on the run... also I should mention I never use 3D - printers while I play, so I don't rely on over stacking one type of item.
It's a tough challenge, but I hope this video is of some help, GOOD LUCK out there!
