Batting & Pitcher Shoma are special bonus game characters. Batting Shoma is playable in Home Run Mode only; and Pitcher Shoma is a CPU-only character.

Therefore that makes Pitcher Shoma a genuine unplayable character in the game.

In the PS1 version of Rival Schools Evolution (the 2nd disc), there are 4 bonus mini-games (which need to be unlocked). In each of these mini-games there is a special version of a Gorin High School (the sports trio) character that perform unique moves specifically for that mini-game. For example in Home Run Mode there are two versions of Shoma - one that bats, and one that pitches.

All of them cannot be selected in the other game modes.

This video demonstrates batting Shoma and pitcher Shoma from the Home Run Mode. Using alternative methods, you can actually get to use them in the other game modes! The first section of the video demonstrates batting Shoma, and the second section demonstrates pitcher Shoma. Here's the info:

---- Batting Shoma cannot do much apart from swing the bat. He cannot be hit but he can be thrown by the opponent. His lifebar icon and name text is messed up, and his winning screen is completely flawed.

---- Pitcher Shoma can pitch the ball high and low and can also do two fake pitch poses. Pressing the HK button with him will freeze the game!
