1How getting Steve's items works: Neutral special opens a container. The containers come in a set order but you can only get the next container by taking an item from the current container. Which item you pick determines which set of items you can choose from in the next container.
Use all 7 containers & you'll loop back to the 1st container. Use every item from every container & you'll get to pick an item from the secret 8th container.
You can only open a container by getting exp/material, which is gotten by landing hits, killing, witnessing death, dying, parrying, or making a slime block. Landing a hit with an item doesn't count.
