RoboCop 3 Playthrough (NES) (DEATHLESS)
4Well after the misery-inducing game that is Robo Cop 2 on NES, I was mighty hesitant to pick up the third game in this trilogy fearing it'd be another hair pulling, controller smashing cuss fest like the previous game was. I had no interest at all in prolonging anymore suffering and misery in the name of RoboCop after that second game in all seriousness. Plus, knowing that the third movie is by far the weakest one of the original trilogy did nothing to help boost my confidence in it either....at least at first. Low and behold, this game actually ended not only being rather decent (although very short), but a fairly balanced and fun little gem of a game. While it's source material is still highly questionable, the game is far better then its source material and was a very fun and enjoyable playthrough that only took one afternoon to do....which is a major rarity for me when it comes to doing these playthrough videos. Some games usually take a week or so. Some a month or two and on the odd occasion, some have taken a few years to finally get right. But every so often I will have a game played, practiced and recorded all in one afternoon. And this was one of them. So overall, its a rather decent (yet totally run-of-the-mill) licensed platformer. Decent gameplay, tolerable controls (which are a VAST improvment over RoboCop 2), fitting music and a pretty balanced difficulty certainly make this RoboCop game easily the second best or perhaps even the best (depending on your point of view i guess) of the NES Robo Cop trilogy. Sadly the actual cart is rather rare and hard to find so getting a copy can be a challenge. But if you happen across one for a decent price, grab it and see for yourself!
