I balance out my moments of awesomeness with plenty of stupidity too, don't worry about it. :D

Welcome to my first Robot Runs series, a series where I do multiple videos on a game, unlike the first-look type thing that is Robot's Register, and take it to completion (or as close as I can anyway). I'm not sure how often Robot Runs series will occur, but I'll probably base that on the reception this series gets, and then we can go from there. :) Robot Runs will differ slightly from my other series', in that it will be almost entirely unedited and each episode will be a shorter 15 - 20 minute part rather than the half hour monstrosities my other stuff normally is.

Portal is an incredible game. Full stop. I've always found the dedication Valve put into their games quite stunning, it's clear they put a lot of work in to make sure they get everything exactly right. As I say in the video, I don't know that I've had any single-player experience in a game as powerful as those I've had in all of their games. Everything is always perfect - the stories, the atmosphere, the scenery, the characters (again, I feel like I form an emotional connection with their characters in these games moreso than any others), I just love it all. Now enough with the Valve praise (maybe it'll boost their egos enough to get them to make to Half-Life 3 :D ), here's a quick summary of the game for those who somehow have never played it (and if you haven't, what on earth is wrong with you? Go play it!)

Portal primarily comprises a series of puzzles that must be solved by teleporting the player's character and simple objects using "the Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device", a device that can create inter-spatial portals between two flat planes. The player-character, Chell, is challenged by an artificial intelligence named GLaDOS (Genetic Lifeform and Disk Operating System) to complete each puzzle in the Aperture Science Enrichment Center using the portal gun with the promise of receiving cake when all the puzzles are completed. The game's unique physics allows momentum to be retained through portals, requiring creative use of portals to manoeuvre through the test chambers. Portal was acclaimed as one of the most original games of 2007, despite being considered short in length. The game received praise for its unique gameplay and darkly humorous story. It received acclaim for the character of GLaDOS, voiced by Ellen McLain in the English-language version, and the end credits song "Still Alive" written by Jonathan Coulton for the game.
