Rockman & Forte - Forte Full Playthrough
I return to play Rockman and Forte, but this time, I play as Forte in his first full game adventure (not counting Power Battle/Fighters). His story is basically a simple one. After hearing about King's activities, Forte sets out to find him, fight him and beat him in order to prove once and for all that he is the strongest combat robot in the world. That's pretty much it in a nutshell. For all we know, this is an independent action and has nothing to do with Wily... at the time.
He plays very differently from Rockman in mobility and combat. He has the ability to dash, dash jump and double jump similar to his younger brother Zero who had this starting from Rockman X4. (Remember Rockman X4 (1997) came before Rockman and Forte (1998) in game release chronology.) However, unlike Zero, Forte is able to combine his dash jump and double jump to reach longer distances. The disadvantage to this is that he cannot go though small ledges like Rockman when sliding. As for combat, Forte can shoot and fire in all directions except downward in a rapid-fire manner. However, his shots are weaker than Rockman, and, while firing, he cannot move at all unless you're jumping. This could make for long fights against bosses unless you get a power-up for his buster or have the weakness weapon.
As for the playthrough itself, this is a full-length playthrough with no interruptions. Thanks to the relatively new time extension, I'm now able to put up videos of this length; almost in a longplay-ish manner, but with a lack of demos displayed. So if you're the type who have a short attention span, you have been warned. The game is English patched as I'm playing the untranslated Japanese rom. Finally, remember that this is NOT a 100 CD run. I've explained my reasons in the Rockman playthrough in the very first part, so read that for details. Now, with everything hopefully covered, I present to you Rockman and Forte: Forte Edition - uninterrupted with no commericals. :P
With this being such a long video with no commentary. I will not be doing detailed stage notes as it will go over the description limit. I'll just give you these small notes:
-Best Stage: Gateway to King - The simple fact that I was able to one-shot the highly annoying Remote Mine crystal, period, made my day.
-Worst Stage: Magic Man - COMPLETE. @#$%ING. DISASTER. Nothing seemed to go my way in this stage. Trains not spawning, taking more damage than necessary, and the horrible boss fight which reminded me how I dislike contact weapons even with invincibility frames. It was fortunate that I didn't die. Well, at least I got my payback during the rematch against Magic Man.
-In King's Stage 2, don't mind the random pause in the King Jetter fight. It was a precaution in case of a frame desync, but I believe nothing happened in the end. However, it was still better to be safe since this was an area with a high chance of desync.
-My apoligies with the audio desync with the Wily stage. I couldn't precisely fix it without making the video sound odd around specific cutoff points. Speaking of Wily, for some reason, I still couldn't properly dodge the Wily Capsule's attacks. Trust me, I'm only making it harder than it looks as they are simple to dodge; I just couldn't get the proper timing to react since I haven't played in a long time. I was fortunate I had the foresight to equip the Super Armor because of that.
