In this video I show you my solution for taking care of wind distortion when recording outside with the Yi Lite Action Camera.

Anyone who records outside with any video camera, let alone a Yi Lite, will know how easy it is for wind to distort and spoil your audio, especially dialogue when you are talking to camera.

This solution simply requires a cheap silicone rubber case. By simply cutting and making the microphone holes bigger on the top of the silicone rubber case, you can make sure that you'll definitely not cover the internal microphones of the Yi Lite and give the microphones more breathing space.

The next step is to apply the Rycote Micro Windjammers, which act just like a deadcat, by using two of the sticky pads that come with Rycote WindJammers and then sticking the Windjammers on.

I was so impressed with how good this worked, that I've now glued the Windjammers in place on the silicone rubber case. I then made a further hole in the bottom of the case so I can get access to the battery and SD card door. This means that my Yi Lite is now permanently inside that case with no need to take it out, as I don't use it in the waterproof case anyway.

I sure that this would also work well for GoPro and other cameras, Android & iPhone SmartPhones, DSLR and any small video camera or audio recording device that has small built in microphones.

As I'm sure you'll agree, this works amazingly well. This is perfect for selfie vlogging outdoors so you can have clean wind distortion free audio, or any other type of audio recording outside where wind may become an issue.

For my intro and summary in this video I was using the Zhiyun Smooth Q Gimbal for stabilising the Yi Lite. The Smooth Q is an amazing little three axis Gimbal, which while designed for SmartPhones, works amazingly well with the Yi Lite in selfie mode, where you wouldn't see your Yi Lite's screen anyway. I also use the Smooth Q on my Yi 4K+ and it's awesome with that too.

I'll be doing a video at some point just about the Smooth Q and Yi Lite, showing just how great this combination is for any a lot of action camera work, but especially for selfie vlogging.

As the Lite is so good at recording dialogue, especially now with wind protection. I'll be doing a video called 'The Best Budget Action Camera For Vlogging'. In that video I'll be showing a number of examples of just how good the Yi Lite is for vlogging.
