In this video I'm showing how to upgrade the firmware for the RODE VideoMic NTG. The update procedure is dead easy, just download the update software form the RODE website for either PC or MAC.
The executable file is not only the firmware update file but also an installer. Like I said, dead easy, just start the executable file and follow the on-screen prompts.
The most important thing when updating the firmware for your RODE VideoMic NTG, just as it is when updating the firmware for any device. DO NOT UNPLUG OR SWITCH OFF THE MICROPHONE DURING THE FIRMWARE UPDATE PROCEDURE.
As mentioned in the video, this firmware helps to optimise the performance of the RODE VideoMic NTG with Panasonic Lumix GH series of cameras. With the ability to enhance the functionality of the VideoMic NTG, maybe we might see RODE enhance more functions of the mic in the future. Whether that is the case or not, it's just absolute maddens that we are now able to update the firmware of a microphone :)
