Hello all. Thanks for checking out this rooted NVIDIA Shield video here on TTC. This video describes the experience I had and some steps you can take to root a Shield that is running 4.3

I started off using Kwongger's root kit but it constantly reported the device was offline. It could talk to it in some degree and PC knew it was there but the tool failed. After some careful researching, I found out that my ADB/fastboot was out of date for 4.3 I updated it via the android SDK manager and now I could fully talk to the Shield if I used the adb/fastboot exe files that the SDK provided. I moved them over to the directory filled with Kwongger's files. I was able to flash a recovery at this point but it wouldn't stick. I also could not push superuser manually. Back to the web for more research.

This time is seems NVIDIA had locked down (purposefully or accidentally) the old way of getting system access from fastboot. I eventually pushed the boot image found on the github link above. That boot image did allow for proper rooting and pushed superuser through. The device is now finally rooted. I have not used the 2.55 ghz kernel yet nor have I gone backed and pushed a recovery. Warning-unlocking your bootloader WILL wipe your device so be prepared!
