Dear Diary: I've been playing this game on PC since I purchased it last October or whenever it released. Over there, I had been trying to play it mostly with keyboard and mouse. And while that mode did provide some good old fashioned PC nostalgia, I have to admit that with the specific mechanics of GoW, it plays better on a controller. The dynamics of the roadie run, and how melee plays out, especially for executions, it's just more nimble on that controller.
Regardless, I'm not tired of this campaign yet. And when I really dedicate myself to focusing on the gameplay, I also open up a deep interest in how the combat vignettes play out in different spaces. it's very nuanced how you need to shift combat tactics depending on the spatial arrangement of that particular level. I know I'm getting close to the end, and I worry that I will miss this game. I have very fond memories of the first title. It has taken me this long to get back. I am hoping that I remember to focus on the details in these last few hours. Who knows if Microsoft is planning on revisiting this franchise again.
