My Gaming Diary: It's new game day in the 'WERKz, and this is my first of two selections for the month of February. This game is not, I say again, not in my wheelhouse. I am not a platform gamer. I'm not good at anything, really, that looks, walks, and talks like the games that were in the arcade when I was a pre-teen and teen. Games like this are the reason I got into home gaming consoles in the first place. So I could find games that I was good at and play them outside of the public view.
But this...this thing is solid. It took me a bit of time to get settled into the need to use the right analog stick all the time; that just felt unusual for a side-scrolling 2D shooter. I am used to that if it's a shmup, but this just seems weird. But, I will admit that once you get it, it feels wonderful. Since my other game of the month is Resident Evil 7, it is nice that this is the other game to balance out the horror.
