NVIDIA's confirmation of the upcoming GeForce RTX 4070 GPU has revealed some additional details about its specs and pricing. The GPU will use the AD104 GPU, and it will feature 12GB GDDR6X memory across a 192-bit interface. Although the memory bandwidth of the RTX 4070 will be lower than that of the RTX 3070 Ti (504 GB/s vs. 608 GB/s), the upgrade path from the RTX 3070 to the RTX 4070 will result in higher bandwidth.

According to NVIDIA, the average power consumption of the RTX 4070 during gaming will be 186W, which is lower than the soon-to-be advertised 200W TDP. This figure is also lower than the average power consumption of the RTX 3070 Ti and RTX 3070 non-Ti SKUs. However, it should be noted that the new TDP figures for RTX GPUs are less likely to correspond to real-world gaming scenarios.

The RTX 4070 will be priced at $599, which is the same price as the RTX 3070 Ti. However, it represents a $100 increase compared to the last-gen non-Ti SKU. For this price, gamers will get 4GB more memory, newer RT and Tensor cores, support for DLSS3 tech, and more advanced video encoding (AV1).

The release date for the RTX 4070 is April 13, 2023. It will be the fourth Ada Lovelace desktop graphics card to be released by NVIDIA. The card will also feature 36MB of L2 Cache (the RTX 4070 Ti has 48MB), which is significantly more than the last-gen RTX 3070 Ti and RTX 3070 GPUs, which only had 4MB.
