Running Windows 8 Developer Preview (Build 8056) inside Windows XP (VMware Workstation)
Here it is! The 35th episode, and this time, it's something a "little" modern. Today's episode is Windows 8 Developer Preview Build 8056 (of course, because the name says Windows Developer Preview). This build features the Betta Fish Boot Screen, which was also used on Windows 8 Consumer Preview.
Windows 8 Build 8056 is a Pre-Developer Preview Build of Windows 8, and this build features a new boot screen, a different kind of setup, and a new BLSOD (Black Screen of Death). To make things more sense, instead of using BSOD for Black Screen of Death like what the Blue Screen of Death is abbreviated, I am using the BLSOD as an abbreviation for the Black Screen of Death. There is a program called Redlock, which enables features for future Windows 8 Beta Builds. Example: The new Start Screen, which is used on later Windows 8 DP Builds. This build is also in both x86 and x64 versions too.
(WARNING: Windows 8 DP Build 8056 can work on modern versions of VMware, but you need to set the compatibility mode to Versions 8.x or 9.x. Otherwise, it will pop up an error crash screen, saying "Your computer needs to restart. Please hold down the power button.", and shows an error code. Even if VT-x is enabled, it shows this error message.)
