Rygar (Arcade) Playthrough
0In 1986, Tecmo introduced the arcade classic, Rygar, in Japan. This side-scrolling platform game immerses players in the role of the "Legendary Warrior," navigating the terrain armed with the unique "Diskarmor" – a shield equipped with a long chain for both offense and grappling.
The game's narrative unfolds on a post-apocalyptic Earth, where the sinister Ligar has risen to power, subjugating humanity. An ancient prophecy foretells the return of a heroic Argos warrior, the only hope against Ligar's tyranny.
In the original Japanese release, "Ligar" and "Rygar" are indistinguishable, resulting in the hero being known as "The Legendary Warrior."
The NES version of Rygar is a very different game. The main character, his weapon, and many of the enemies remain the same, but the gameplay is quite different. While the arcade version is more of a standard side-scrolling action title, the NES's Rygar is an open-ended action-adventure game.
A reimagined version, "Rygar: The Legendary Adventure," was unveiled in 2002, with the combined sales of Rygar and its remake reaching 1.5 million copies worldwide by June 2007.
