VIDEO DESCRIPTION
This is my No Damage/No Upgrade guide and walkthrough for Ryse: Son of Rome (PC) played on Legendary difficulty.

“No upgrades” means that my health and focus bars will not be upgraded. However, there is an exception to the former: on the optional fight at the end of Chapter 6, I upgrade my heath bar to avoid getting “one shot killed” and one-cycle “combo-killed” on base health. The fight is optional and immediately locks one into a cutscene if one is killed, whereupon one must redo Chapter 6 to return to the fight in question. Out of a desire not to have to continually redo Chapter 6 in the event of getting killed in the course of this optional fight, I upgrade my health so that, if I took damage, I could safely restart the checkpoint instead of dying with base health and having to repeat a lengthy chapter to return to the fight.

Besides that, my pila count is not upgraded and remains at the base quantity of 4 (as opposed to upgrading and having 8). I do not in the course of this walkthrough ever use Focus mode. I do use “Damage Boost” periodically, and the reason I do so is that Damage Boost requires skill to accumulate and sustain. As this walkthrough is a showcase of skill and competence, I activate Damage Boost without compunction both as a means of varying my executions and interacting as a player with what I consider to be one of the more interesting facets of the gameʼs combat.
