In the comment section of an Instagram post made by TSN on their documentary featuring former Buffalo Sabres head coach Ted Nolan, former Sabres goaltender Matt Hackett wrote out how the Sabres, under the guidance of said coaching decisions and possibly other external factors, were legitimately trying to lose games in the 2014-2015 season, most likely with the intention of drafting Jack Eichel or Connor McDavid 1st or 2nd overall at the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
