I originally wrote this to be a "solitude" theme, but I suppose it could work both ways. I was trying to capture a more subtle kind of sadness, like if a character is having some sort of internal struggle and begins vacillating between two different courses of action, keeping in mind the virtue of said actions. The sort of distress that would come from a situation where no matter what you do, something will be lost.
