Saints Row & Dead or Alive are WOKE!
The gaming politics discourse is filled with absolute braindead takes.
"Common misconception that a game like Saints Row is 'woke' for removing sexual innuendos and having general censorship."
If you're talking about the universally reviled 2022 remake, no. We're not saying it's woke because they remove sexual innuendos or censorship, although that doesn't help. We're saying it's woke because the game is actually perpetuating and endorsing progressive leftist politics.
"This is in fact appealing to brands and capitalism as sex and nudity is considered a brand risk. This is a conservative viewpoint."
How convenient that you judge how not woke a game is because it appeals to the capitalist market. By that logic, Hasan is a capitalist because he sells merch. Not exactly an accurate assessment.
"It's only not considered woke when there's objectification happening."
Wait, by that logic, Saints Row is woke.
"When the women characters aren't empowering, when sex appeal is their only purpose or when there's no deeper meaning behind their sexuality appeal."
Okay, then by that logic, Dead or Alive is not woke, right--
"The game on the left is woke and the game on the right is sexist."
I'm sorry, what? Apparently, the female faceless robots from Atomic Heart is "not woke," but the whole Dead or Alive game is "woke." Why? Because one game has the women characters not being empowering and the other one does? One game has sex appeal as their only purpose, and the other one does not? One game has no deeper meaning behind their sexuality appeal, and the other does not? Either way, I'll just bonk you.
