As Hurricane Dorian loomed in the Atlantic Ocean, 16-year-old Akeem Cooper was helping others. A junior soldier in The Salvation Army, he assisted officer (church leader) Major Hendrik Sumter in securing the Salvation Army Freeport premises on Grand Bahama. After the storm devastated the Grand Bahama Island and the waters receded, Akeem returned to the Freeport Corps with three friends, knowing survivors would be depending on The Salvation Army for support.
