The Salvation Army in Birmingham, Alabama recently hosted a unique fundraising event, ‘Dinner in the Streets’. More than 100 donors, volunteers and friends gathered under the stars to enjoy an outdoor community dinner and live music. The goal being to raise awareness for hungry neighbors and funds to help feed those in need. The Salvation Army of Greater Birmingham serves meals 365 days a year. In 2018, over 121,000 warm meals were served including breakfast, lunch and dinner to men, women and families living in the shelter and the community-at-large. In addition, The Salvation Army provides an average of 50 food boxes per week to food insecure families and individuals facing hunger.
