MinecraftCin3ma1 has started a little world with some Asian inspired architecture, but finds himself having difficulty building small buildings with the big Minecraft blocks. Unfortunately, there's no solution to his problem; you can't avoid the fact that Minecraft is blocks. Building in Minecraft, we can either build small and accept the blockiness, or build big and have to spend a long time on builds. Which approach do you usually take, and why?

FAQ

Q: What should I send?
A: Send me a private message on Google+ describing what you have done and what you are trying to do. Ask me specific questions related to architecture and spatial design in Minecraft. The more information you give me, the more I can respond specifically to what you're interested in. Include a link for me to download your world save, or give me the address of your multiplayer server.

Q: How do I send messages via Google+?
A: You'll need a Google+ account. Share a message, and in the "To:" field, type in "sckchui". Remove "Public" and anyone else if they're there, unless you want the message to be public.

Q: How do I give you a link to my world save?
A: There are a number of free file hosting services available. I personally use Mediafire at http://www.mediafire.com . You'll have to compress your Minecraft world folder into a ZIP file (or RAR if you prefer), upload that file, then send me the share link.

Q: What will you do with that?
A: I will make a video answering your questions, trying to help with your design problems. Note that if you show me your world and ask me design questions, you are giving me permission to make and post a video of it on YouTube.

Q: I sent you a message but you haven't made a vid. :(
A: Depending on how busy I am and how many submissions I get, I might not be able to respond to every submission. If I do get that many submissions, I will choose the ones that I think will be the most useful to the most people. I'm sorry if I can't personally answer, but maybe talk to your friends and other people you know to ask for feedback.

Q: So who are you? And how do you pronounce "sckchui"?
A: Just call me Simon. I have a PhD in architecture from The University of Melbourne in Australia. I have 3 years of experience teaching architecture design topics part time, and I have played Minecraft for over 2 years.

Q: Why are you doing this then?
A: I love architecture, I love videos games, I love Minecraft, I love teaching, I love to see people designing and learning and enjoying themselves while doing so. Everything fits.
